Nigel’s Bicycle Shop is situated on the North East end of the Sheep’s Head Peninsula, in the town of Bantry. The Sheep’s Head is ideal for cycling – the north side is quiet and sparsely inhabited with little traffic and views of Bantry Bay. The south side has three villages, Durrus, Ahakista and Kilcrohane, for those not wanting to be too far from food and drink. The road closely follows the coastline. Cyclists may take all day and go all the way around or take in Durrus village or just beyond for a more leisurely trip for example. Fishing is prohibited on a 100 yard section immediately downstream of the weir in Bandon. The Bandon offers a great variety of game fishing. It gets a good run of salmon, including both spring fish and grilse, and has an excellent run of sea trout, and the brown trout fishing is regarded as being quite good.

Douglas Golf Club is a very flat, parkland course. The views from the clubhouse are some of the most panoramic in the country.The course was redesigned in 1997 by Mr Peter McEvoy with the intention of utilising land and of making the course more challenging for all and to allow it to be set up to seriously challenge top players at all times. Consideration was also given to testing all handicap ranges and these objectives have been well and truly achieved.

The course is located in one of the most scenic areas in West Cork, on the shores of Bantry Bay with the Caha mountains in the background. It is a very testing 9 hole course with different tee positions for the back 9. Water is a dominant feature and comes into play at every hole. The 7th, 8th and 9th holes are all over inlets of water. Gougane Barra Forest Park is located in the Shehy mountains and extends from the sheer slopes of Cuain Rua through Green Valley Desmond to the shores of Gougane Barra lake. It is 138ha in area. Rail to/from Cork

Getting to Cork by Sea
The Port of Cork operates seasonal Ferry services to Roscoff. Ferries from Britain (Fishguard and Pembroke) and France (Le Havre and Cherbourg) serve Rosslare all year. All year ferries also serve Dublin Port and Dún Laoghaire from Holyhead. The driving time from Rosslare to Cork City is approximately 3 hours; Dublin is approximately 4 hours from Cork City.
